This weekend the Profs are in Rockville, Maryland playing in the DII ACHA Showcase. Teams have come from all over the country to play against each other.
The games began Friday with Rowan shutting out Louisville, 5-0. Saturday night, Rowan beat Ohio State, 4-2. The Profs controlled this game from the beginning and at one point were out-shooting Ohio State 2-1. Rowan was supposed to finish the weekend against Army on Sunday, but there are reports of the schedule changing. Be sure to check the ACHA DII website for updates. Most of the games are being broadcasted online at IYM Sports Radio.
In other ACHA news, the ACHA partners with Gongshow Gear for the 2012-1213 season. Gongshow Gear is a lifestyle hockey apparel company based out of Canada. The partnership will create a web series called Inside the ACHA. The series will take in-depth looks at the players lifestyles off the ice, including academically and socially.
Gongshow Gear just released its first App this week called, Gongshow Saucer king. It is a must have for any hockey fan, I haven’t stopped playing since I downloaded it. It is super addicting, has online multiplayer so you can beat your friends, and the best part is it’s free.
After Rowan’s opening night 3-2 victory against DI Villanova, I spoke to WGLS-FM Sports Director Rob Cunningham. Cunningham said, “They [Rowan] had an impressive win battling against a DI team in Villanova. It was a good way to start the season.” The game was rough and the Profs were able to dominate physically. Colin Davis, former Rowan captain and reigning league MVP, said, “The team brought back a lot of familiar faces and looks to improve on last year’s performance.” The Profs have a good mix of young talent and veteran leaders. This year looks promising for Rowan.
